Social Support and Health

Social support is defined more precisely as psychological and substantial assets delivered by a social network that is intended at helping an individual deal with stress. Researchers usually differentiate among numerous types of social support: instrumental support which denotes substantial aid (e.g., economical support or backing in transportation to a physician's appointment), informational support (e.g., information, education or guidance in problem-solving), and emotional support (e.g., sympathy – even though the undesirable association has been validated between stress and sympathy to outsiders, encouragement, etc.) Social support can decrease the level of stress during pregnancy.
